Crown of Rebirth - Chapter 5
They finally arrived at the city’s main marketplace, which was bustling with activity. There were vendors selling all kinds of goods, from exotic fruits to handmade pottery. Neru felt overwhelmed by the sights and sounds, but Vivian led him through the crowds with ease.
As they walked, Neru noticed a group of people gathered around a man who was standing on a soapbox, preaching about some kind of religion. Neru didn’t pay much attention at first, but then he heard the man mention the “End of Days” and his heart skipped a beat. He remembered the prophecy that had been spoken about him in his past life, about the end of the world and the role he was meant to play in it. Was it possible that the prophecy had followed him to this new world?
He was so lost in thought that he didn’t notice Vivian had stopped at a stall selling jewelry. She held up a necklace and gestured for Neru to come closer. “What do you think?” she asked.
Neru looked at the necklace, admiring the way the gems caught the sunlight. “It’s beautiful,” he said, but then shook his head. “I can’t afford it.”
Vivian grinned. “Who said anything about paying for it?” she said, slipping the necklace around his neck. “Consider it a gift.”
