Crown of Rebirth - Chapter 9
The next morning, Neru woke up feeling restless. He couldn’t shake the feeling that they needed to be doing something to get out of this situation.
Vivian was still asleep, so Neru slipped out of the room and made his way down to the inn’s common area. There were a few patrons there, nursing their morning drinks and chatting quietly.
Neru approached the innkeeper, hoping he might know someone who could help them. “Do you know anyone who could help us clear my name?” he asked.
The innkeeper frowned, shaking his head. “I’m sorry, lad,” he said. “But anyone who could help you is probably too scared to do so. The king’s men have eyes and ears everywhere.”
Neru felt his stomach drop. He didn’t know what to do. He couldn’t just stay in this inn forever, but he also didn’t know how to escape Tigre without getting caught.
As he was pondering his options, he heard a commotion outside. He rushed to the door and saw a group of guards making their way down the street. They were searching for someone, and Neru couldn’t help but feel like they were looking for him.
