Degenerate Gambling in Another World - Chapter 3
Kai stared at Enu, unsure of what to make of her offer. He had never been one for doing favors for strangers, but the promise of making his debts disappear was too good to pass up.
“What kind of favor are we talking about?” he asked cautiously.
Enu grinned, revealing perfectly white teeth. “Nothing too difficult. Just a simple task, really. I need you to retrieve an item for me.”
“What kind of item?” Kai pressed.
Enu leaned in closer, her perfume filling Kai’s nostrils. “A valuable one. Let’s just say it’s something that belongs to me, but was stolen by a certain someone who I need to get it back from.”
Kai raised an eyebrow, sensing that there was more to the story. “And what do I get in return?”
Enu smiled slyly. “I’ll make all of your debts disappear. Completely wiped clean. And, if you play your cards right, maybe even a little something extra.”
Kai hesitated for a moment, weighing his options. He didn’t know what kind of trouble he would be getting himself into, but the thought of finally being free from his debts was too tempting to ignore.
“Alright, I’ll do it,” he said finally.
Enu’s grin widened. “Good. I knew you were a smart man.”
She scribbled down an address on a piece of paper and slid it across the bar to Kai.
“Go here. You’ll find what you’re looking for.”
Kai pocketed the paper and stood up, ready to leave.
“Just one more thing,” Enu said, grabbing his arm. “Don’t forget, Kai. When you come back, we have a deal. You owe me.”
With those words ringing in his ears, Kai left the bar and made his way to the address Enu had given him.
