Eternal Wedding - Chapter 2
As the dancing began, James saw one of the security guards step away from his post. He tried to call out to him, but it was too late. A masked figure appeared out of nowhere, wielding a knife. James watched in horror as the figure made their way towards Emily.
“No!” he shouted, rushing towards her.
But it was too late. The figure plunged the knife into Emily’s chest, and James felt like his heart was breaking all over again. He looked around the room, and saw that the other guests were being attacked too. The once-beautiful reception hall was now a scene of carnage and chaos, just like in his previous timeline.
Again, everything went black.
When James woke up, he was back at the beginning of his wedding day. He tried to make sense of what had happened, but he couldn’t. He had hired security guards, he had taken action, but it hadn’t been enough.
He spent the next few timelines trying different things – hiring more guards, changing the location of the reception, even trying to convince Emily not to attend. But no matter what he did, the same thing happened. Emily died, and everyone else at the reception was murdered.
James felt like he was going insane. He couldn’t understand why he was reliving the same day over and over again, why he couldn’t save Emily. He tried talking to the security guards, but they couldn’t remember anything that had happened in the previous timelines.
Finally, James realized that he needed to try something drastic. He needed to confront the killer head-on. He didn’t know who they were or why they were doing this, but he knew that he had to stop them.
He spent the next few timelines preparing for the confrontation. He trained in martial arts, he learned how to use a gun, he even hired a private investigator to try to track down the killer. And finally, on one timeline, he was ready.
As the reception began, James felt a sense of nervous energy coursing through him. He knew that this was it, that this was the timeline where he would confront the killer. He watched as the guests arrived, his eyes scanning the crowd for any sign of danger.
And then, he saw them. A figure in a black mask, lurking in the shadows. James made his way towards them, his heart pounding in his chest. He had no idea what he was going to do, but he knew that he had to try.
“Stop!” he shouted, stepping in front of the figure.
The figure hesitated for a moment, and then lunged at James with a knife. James dodged to the side, and then tackled the figure to the ground. They struggled, rolling across the dance floor as the other guests looked on in horror.
Finally, James managed to get the upper hand. He pinned the figure down, and then pulled off their mask.
And then, he saw the face of his best friend.
James couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He had known his friend for years, had trusted him with his life. But now, he was staring into the eyes of a cold-blooded killer.
“Why?” he asked, his voice shaking.
His friend looked up at him, his eyes filled with hatred.
“I loved her,” he spat. “I loved her more than anything in the world. And you were taking her away from me.”
