I Suck at Magic, but Sometimes I Don't - Chapter 1
My name is Celeste and I come from a poor family. We live in a small village on the outskirts of the kingdom. We don’t have much, but we are content with what we have. However, I have always dreamt of something more. I have always dreamt of becoming a wizard and studying at Roth’s School of Wizards. It is a prestigious academy that only rich elites get into, and a select few wizards with gifted abilities can get in as well.
“I can’t believe you’re already applying to Roth’s School of Wizards!” exclaimed my best friend, Lily.
“I know, it’s crazy,” I replied with a grin. “But it’s been my dream for as long as I can remember. I have to at least try.”
We were walking through the marketplace on our way to the application office. I could feel the nervous energy building up inside of me. What if I wasn’t good enough? What if they saw through me and realized I wasn’t from a wealthy family? These doubts kept creeping up, but I pushed them aside.
As we approached the office, we saw a long line of people waiting to submit their applications. We joined the end of the line and waited patiently for our turn.
“I’m so proud of you for going after your dreams,” Lily said, giving me a reassuring smile.
“Thanks, Lily. I couldn’t have gotten this far without your support,” I replied, feeling grateful for my friend’s unwavering encouragement.
Finally, it was my turn to submit my application. I handed over my papers to the clerk, who looked them over and gave me a nod of approval.
“Good luck with your application,” the clerk said before turning to the next person in line.
As we left the office, I let out a deep breath. It was done. Now all I could do was wait and hope for the best.
“I have a good feeling about this, Celeste,” Lily said, giving me a reassuring squeeze on the arm.
I smiled, feeling a sense of determination welling up inside of me. I was going to do everything in my power to make sure I got accepted into Roth’s School of Wizards.
